An ongoing dispute between neighbors turned into an assault Friday night on South Van Ness. According to police, the incident began at around 8 p.m. when one neighbor, a 58-year-old man, began “interacting” with the other neighborhood’s dog. The dog’s owner, a 59-year-old man, told the neighbor to leave the pet alone. When the neighbor didn’t respond to requests, the dog owner attacked the neighbor. Police later arrived on scene and arrested the dog owner for charges of aggravated assault.

At 23rd and Bartlett Friday at 10:45 p.m., two suspects in their twenties robbed a 34-year-old man at knifepoint. The 34-year-old had just gone to a nearby ATM when the one of suspects approached him with a knife. The other suspect searched his pockets and removed his keys and money. When they had taken his valuables, one of the suspects punched the man in the head and then they both fled the scene. No arrests were made.

Police report that four men in their 20s attacked a 19-year-old with a baseball bat at 22nd and Mission shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday. The suspects reportedly asked the 19-year-old if he was in a gang before they hit him in the head with a bat and fled the scene. According to police reports, the 19-year-old suffered a large cut to the head, but is being treated at San Francisco General Hospital and his injuries are non-life-threatening. No arrests were made.

A fight at 16th and Mission between at least five men sent two men to the hospital and led to the arrest of one. The fight occurred around 8:20 p.m. Saturday and had three men in their twenties and one 51-year-old in conflict with two 23-year-olds. At one point, the 51-year-old stabbed one of the 23-year-olds with a knife. Others hit the older man with a broomstick. The 51-year-old and the victim of his stabbing were later transported to San Francisco General, where their injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. Police later arrested the 51-year-old.

Early Sunday morning around 2:15 a.m., a bicycle lock became a deadly weapon when a verbal altercation between a 33-year-old and another man in his twenties became physical. The two were arguing near the corner of 19th and Valencia when the man in his twenties took out a bicycle lock and began beating the 33-year-old with it. He then sped off on a bicycle leaving the 33-year-old with numerous cuts and a bruised face.
