It is 52˚ and expected to rise to 60˚. Details for the next ten days are here.

Today’s block: Erie to 13th,  Missions Streets to a driveway.

The Mission District, a place that is generally blessed with sun on particular days, has been given no mercy by the fog during these early morning hours. These photos were shot on Memorial Day and the usual buzzing Mission Street was silent, with only a few patrons making their way down the street and toward their desired locations.

On the corner of Erie and Mission Streets, is Construction Center, a business specializing in construction across the city, the building. It’s painted a rusty red color and takes up most of the block.

Erie Street is a short street that, when it ends, turns into the driveway for the Construction Center. Three other businesses are located here including Public Works, a nightclub and local venue, and the third a small electronics company that doesn’t seem to have a sign in front.

On the opposite side of the block lies 13th Street, or also known as the street that takes you to the freeway. This block is home to Healthright 360, a local organization that provides drug addiction, mental health, and medical services, with locations all around San Francisco. On Monday morning, there was not a line outside the business, but there was a constant flow of entry in and out the entry door.

Those waiting to be served sat or stood outside, chatting with the few others that were waiting as well. A quiet morning.

With the light good early on, so much the better to sign on and document your block. Don’t wait! Let us know what day and block you would like at info@missionlocal.com.

You can see a map of all of the blocks here. The blocks in grey are being saved for others who have signed up. Let us save a block for you as well.

  1. Actually, Healthright’s entrance is on the Mission side. The 13th street side (211 13th St) hosts A Woman’s Place Drop In Center, the city’s only 24-hour site for women. There are a few other businesses in that large building, too.
