Weather today is an expected high of 59˚ and low of 50˚ with some cloud cover expected. Forecast for the next ten days here.

Today’s block: Erie to 13th (the 101 freeway), South Van Ness to Folsom.

At the very edge of the Mission, this block of Erie Street is industrial through and through: City Door and Hardware, Folsom Auto Body Shop, Ceramic Tile Design, and Sherwin-Williams Paints dominate the scene, while pickup trucks move in and out of the various open depots. In the back, Erie Street proper, the buildings display garish graffiti and house a few homeless encampments, where the block’s denizens practice bike tricks and generally shoot the shit. The din of the 101 overpass and nearby industry is somehow appropriate for the neighborhood’s borderlands — makes you aware that you’re crossing a threshold and leaving the Mission.

With the light good early on, so much the better to sign on and document your block. Don’t wait! Let us know what day and block you would like at info@missionlocal.com.

You can see a map of all of the blocks here. The blocks in grey are being saved for others who have signed up. Let us save a block for you as well.
