After announcing its imminent closure in 2015 due to a rent increase, Lexington Club’s fans and LGBTQ community of San Francisco felt sad and frustrated.

This January 25th, don’t miss this opportunity to check out the iconic bar at the Roxie.

The theater will feature Shot for Shot: The Lexington Club on Film, in which local filmmaker Elena Oxman has put together local films that have shot or featured the Lexington Club. Here’s more on this endeavor:

The bar and its owner Lila Thirkield have let local/queer filmmakers use it as a location over the years, and the resulting films have run the gamut from student shorts to features like Valencia– all of which showcase local talent and capture some sense of the “old” San Francisco.

The program will include scenes from films shot at the bar :

  • Ashley 22 (Monica Nolan, 1998)
  • How to Pick up Girls (Jackie Strano, Shar Rednour, 2000)
  • By Hook or By Crook (Silas Howard, Harriet Dodge 2001)
  • The Wild Search (Shine Louise Houston/Pink & White Productions, 2007)
  • Mechanic’s Daydream (Mary Guzmán, 2007)
  • Getting Off (J Aguilar, Meliza Banales , 2009)
  • Valencia: the Movie/s (multiple directors, 2013)
  • Lit (Elena Oxman, 2014)

You can get your ticket here, and after the screening is over join the after party at the Lexington Club!
