For those with opinions about the future of Mission Street, the Planning Department invites you to attend a meeting tonight at the Women’s Building about the so-called Mission Public Life Plan. It’s the third meeting about the plan in the last year—one in February kicked off the public outreach, and another in August continued the conversation.

At tonight’s meeting, which will get started at 6 p.m. at the Women’s Building, Planners will seek input from community members of Mission Street for ideas on “how the sidewalk (streetscape) improvements can celebrate the identity of this important street. We will also discuss the preliminary results from our streetscape design survey.”

If you can’t make the meeting and have opinions about the fate of Mission Street’s sidewalks, you can fill out the Planning Department’s survey here.

In related Mission Street news, the Planning Department is seeking proposals from artists to decorate MUNIs and BART plazas along Mission Street. The goal of the project is to “to commission artwork that is representative of the history of Mission Street while providing a sense of cultural identity and vitality.” Proposals are due by January 31st, more details are here.

Stay tuned, we’ll have in-depth coverage of the meeting for you first thing tomorrow.
