More than a dozen protesters were arrested on Market Street after staging a “die-in” on Market Street –the second one in as many days–to denounce police violence.
Protesters marched from the 16th and Mission streets BART station to Powell Street. The protesters were outraged after grand jury’s declined to indict Daniel Pantaleo and Darren Wilson for killing Eric Garner in New York and Michael Brown in Ferguson Missouri, respectively follows a pattern of police killing unarmed black and brown men throughout the United States, activists said.
Thank god people are speaking up about this. Tired of unnecessary violence by police.
Zzzzzzzz…….
One person is enough to be a protest, I think technically this is the bare minimum number of people required. I also know you need at least two people to form a gang…. Anyway… Protesters need to win the hearts and minds of the public and inconveniencing them by blocking traffic isn’t going to help their cause. While I support much of what they are protesting about, I’d like to see protests that don’t piss off the public. It’s not going to help.
I’m all of the protests but don’t inconvenience anyone, including the police (because delaying police or wasting their time could hurt the public).
Make your point, be creative and get the word out there.
Hunter Pence managed to to get a lot of publicity because he embraced some silly signs… why not try something like that? Look how much publicity was given to that stupid sign moron in Ferguson who made that racist sign? Find some local stand up comics and others who are funny, get together and come up with some great ideas for signs that are funny, sarcastic and get the point across… you could do it online and have people contribute ideas and people who like them make them…
You’ll get a crap load of tv time and publicity for being creative and it won’t be negative press because they won’t be arrests!!!
** I know there is nothing FUNNY about this situation, but using humor to get your points across can be very effective. **
Good Luck!
100 people isn’t a protest. There were more people than that in my local bar today.
