A reader reported that her car was broken into on 26th and Valencia Sunday. Rather than money or stereo, the thieves stole her dog. Here’s the message she sent and (the reward poster pictured above):
Please help us find our BELOVED Yorkie, WINNIE. Our car was broken into today and she was stolen along with loose change. We’re guessing they think she is a valuable puppy but she is 12 years old and needs special care. I have had her for all 12 years, took her everywhere with me and my heart is absolutely breaking. PLEASE PLEASE be on the look out. She’s tan and silver and black, 4lbs and still looks like a puppy. Stolen from 26th St. and Valencia in the Mission District. Please call with any information. REWARD!

How could someone steal someone’s dog?? That is just so mean.
Wow.
Such nasty comments.
Please have some sympathy for the people who have had their dog of 12 years stolen from them!
They obviously love the dog very much!!
It really made me sad to see this 🙁
it is a terrible idea to leave a dog in a car for one hour in the hottest neighborhood in SF. If it is a kid, you will go to jail. Why do we treat our pets like this?
Did I miss something? Why do you assume the reader left the dog in the car for an hour? What hour of the day was it? Was the car in the shade? Were windows slightly open to allow air for the dog? Like I say, I might have missed all that information elsewhere. If so, sorry. If not, take a deep breath. Look, it rained this morning. A miracle! Go with it.
you did.
i see him
Did u even read the article? @vecina
They said the dog went missing between 2 and 3 in the afternoon. While they were probably at Sunday Streets.
Fabrizio, Read the reward “poster” text — then comment.
You’re making unsupported conclusions. The theft occurred between 2-3pm. Nothing in that statement conclusively supports a conclusion that the dog was in the car for an hour.
The only thing you could conclude from that statement is that the dog _could_ have been in the car for one hour at maximum.
This is an uncalled for post. At very least, be more attuned to the situation and use better tone and language.
And, BTW, We were in this neighborhood. It wasn’t overly hot. Many loving pet owners leave their dogs for short periods in their car so they are not alone in the house for long periods. Find something better to do then spew vitriol online
Because most dog owners are unhinged control freaks. To them it’s about absolute control of another living thing that won’t walk out on them due to their bizarre behavior. The best interest of the animal is a foreign concept to them.
