Affordable Mexican food abounds in the Mission District but it usually means rice, beans, sour cream, meat and cheese—lots of cheese. Very few spots are worth going to. There is a constant lack of flavor, huge servings of carbs and bland salsas.
Media Naranja Taco Shop is exactly the opposite to all of your Mexican food complaints.
Elizabeth Tinajero, a graduate from the Culinary Institute of America, and renowned chef José Ramos have teamed up to create a pop-up restaurant and farmer’s market stand called Media Naranja. José Ramos has more than 15 years of experience in the kitchen, and has been the chef at Nopalito, Sabroso and Nido.
The project will offer local, organic and sustainable ingredients and will cook everything from scratch. It will also offer traditional cuisine, street tacos and regional dishes such as mole de olla, enchiladas caseras, cecina and pipián.
The business partners have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $20,000 to be able to buy a molino (a stone corn grinder), a custom-built taco cart, a griddle, fryer, meat grinder, pots and pans, tables and other equipment.
We hope Media Naranja visits the Mission District once it comes together.

when i took a journalism class in high school we were told that it was a good idea do include such things as relevant location at the beginning of a story.
YEs, you’re right, but I don’t think this pop-up has a specific location just yet.
We need a Taco Bell in the Mission.
I agree. They make the most authentic cool ranch doritios locos taco supreme that i’ve ever had in the united states
