Police arrived to the scene within minutes shortly after shots were fired right before 1a.m on Florida and 19th Streets.

This morning at 12:59 a resident on Florida Street between 19th and 20th streets was enjoying the early morning hour when she heard four to six shots.

“These were not fireworks, this was super loud gunshots in quick succession,” said the resident, who said she has heard gunshots outside her house since she moved to the Mission 10 years ago. She called 911 and police arrived within minutes.

No one was hurt. There was damage to one of the houses sprayed with the bullets, according to police.

Officer Danielle Newman said today that one witness told police that three people were walking on Florida when a vehicle drove by and fired shots from the car. Police, she said, are still investigating the incident. The three people on the street, she said, did not know the assailants in the car.

One handgun was recovered, she said. A few people were detained for questioning but no one was arrested.

Another reader wrote in that he believed this was the third time shots have been fired near the same intersection. No one, however, was hurt in any of the incidents, he wrote.
