At 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, two men, ages 23 and 28, approached a 24-year-old man walking on 22nd and Shotwell Streets. One of the suspects was carrying a handgun, said police.
The suspect with the handgun pointed it at the victim and demanded that he hand over his property. The other suspect then walked over to him and took the victim’s wallet, money, cell phone and credit cards.
The suspects fled on foot and no arrests have been made.

How do they know the ages of the suspects if they don’t know who they are?
This is indeed an excellent question!
It is irresponsible to conclude, as Mission Local did in their twitter stream, that “Walking around the Mission at 2:30am might not be that good of an idea.” One crime does not make an entire neighborhood unsafe. Unless this type of crime happens all over the neighborhood at 2:30 am every night, to draw such a conclusion is alarmist and detrimental to this neighborhood.
Well with a shooting Sunday morning at 2:30 am at 18th and Capp and this robbery at 2:30 am like a day later, and all the other violence last week, I’m not gonna be walking around my neighborhood at this hour any time soon.
I got a kick out of how the story is written in such a way that it seems it could have taken a half-hour or more for the suspects to approach the victim.
Right?! Lol, I thought the same thing. Odd.
