Today may be the best day of the week to play hooky and take the bus to the beach. It is 7 a.m. and 61° now, but get ready to sweat: temperatures are expected to rise to 83°. Details for the next 10 days are here. Don’t forget your sunscreen.

Speaking of heat, remember that two-alarm fire on Bartlett and 24th three years ago that displaced dozens of people? Raise the real estate alarm, SocketSite reports that one unit in the building transformed to TIC is on the market for a cool $1,595,000.

These days the internet is filled with lists, “Best of That,” “Top 10 This,” etc… But with their annual Best-of list, alt-weeklies were pioneers of the form. I’ve always loved the shout-outs to local heroes and the only-in-San-Francisco categories—it’s a great way to celebrate this multi-faceted city of ours.  SF Weekly has their 2014 list out this week; some Mission standouts include: Dance Brigade (“Best Silent Cultural Commentators”), Trick Dog (Best Bar Menu), Benders (“Best No-Money Bar”), Lucca, (“Best Classic Specialty Store”), and Best Frequencies Forever.fm (“Best Internet Radio Station”) among others. Congratulations Besties! See full this here.

Enjoy the day, y’all. Stay cool. Physically and spiritually. Try not to let the whole thing with Solange and Jay Z get you too down. Go Giants!

  1. The $1.595 million asking price is for one of 3 units at Bartlett & 24th, not the whole building.

    1. But that is what Daniel wrote – ” SocketSite reports that one unit in the building transformed to TIC is on the market for a cool $1,595,000.”

If you look at the size of each unit, they are huge. And given it’s a brand new spec and remodel, the prices seem at the market.
