It is 7 a.m., 58° and headed to 72° and it is looking like a pretty spectacular week. Details for the next ten days are here.

Happy Mother’s Day to all brave women out there!

If you can get still find a seat for Mother’s Day, here are Michael Bauer’s additions to his top 100 restaurant listing.

Is there an excellent Word Press developer out there who can suggest what we might use to keep our comments to one comment and one reply per post? We encourage engagement, but that’s not what happens when the conversation becomes one between two or three people — that actually discourages engagement. If you have thoughts, please send them to missionlocal@gmail.com

We’re working on this as well, but if anyone has any suggestions, please let us know. John, two beers, Marcos and other commenters who feel it is fine to ignore our commenting policy, it is probably time to start your own blogs. You clearly have lots on your mind and others will be engaged by your back and forth.

Nice reminder about the artists Calixto Robles and Alexandra Blum  in the Potrero View.  Robles is in a show at the  Potrero Branch Library, 1067 20th Street and both will show this summer at the Campfire Gallery on 24th Street.

And for those into People watching, The Bold Italic has a photo of Jared Leto at the Stable Cafe on Friday.

And Streetsblog that most of those who walk or bike to work do so because feet and/or wheels is that they can afford.

I’ve been a Mission resident since 1998 and a professor emeritus at Berkeley’s J-school since 2019. I got my start in newspapers at the Albuquerque Tribune in the city where I was born and raised. Like many local news outlets, The Tribune no longer exists. I left daily newspapers after working at The New York Times for the business, foreign and city desks. Lucky for all of us, it is still here.

As an old friend once pointed out, local has long been in my bones. My Master’s Project at Columbia, later published in New York Magazine, was on New York City’s experiment in community boards.

As founder/executive editor at ML, I've been trying to figure out how to make my interest in local news sustainable. If Mission Local is a model, the answer might be that you - the readers - reward steady and smart content. As a thank you for that support we work every day to make our content even better.
