It’s never easy selling one’s art. The print of the Muni Night Bus by Alex Nowik is hanging in a window on Valencia window near We Be Sushi.

I e-mailed the contact, who turns out to be Barry Spencer, a friend of Nowik’s. The artist’s paintings run from $400 to $2400.

Spencer said that prints can be custom ordered on various papers in various sizes.

Price depends on paper selected and size of the paper. The print in the We Be window, for example, on 30″ x 40″ paper, sells for $220.

More examples: a print on 8′ x 10″ paper costs $30 or $50, depending on the paper selected. A print on 40″ x 60″ paper costs $350 or $390, depending on the paper selected.

I’ve been a Mission resident since 1998 and a professor emeritus at Berkeley’s J-school since 2019. I got my start in newspapers at the Albuquerque Tribune in the city where I was born and raised. Like many local news outlets, The Tribune no longer exists. I left daily newspapers after working at The New York Times for the business, foreign and city desks.
