Have you seen everyone’s favorite furry Star Wars character wandering around the Mission? No? Well, he’s been here before, and he may come back soon.

SFGate’s City Exposed Blog profiled Scott Renner, a man who moved to the city recently from San Diego and who wanders around the city with a large Chewbacca cutout.

A friend of Renner’s bought him the cutout off amazon.com for $40 before moving to New Orleans. When he misses his friend, Renner takes Chewbacca out on the town and has started an Instagram with the handle @ChewbaccaSF to document where Chewbacca goes. According to the Instragram page, which has about 6,500 followers, Chewbacca was at the 16th and Mission BART station 10 weeks ago. Since then, Chewbacca has been to Twin Peaks, the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park and the Urban Air Market.

“The point is to get a picture of him in famous spots in San Francisco. You’ve got to commit to going somewhere and getting a good picture,” Renner told SFGate.
