It’s the weekend, so you’ve probably got more exciting things to think about than a potential BART strike. But Monday morning will be here before you know it — and the good news is, there seems to be a glimmer of hope for all the BART commuters out there. While there’s still no contract agreement, the San Francisco Chronicle reports that yesterday’s negotiations ended on a cautiously optimistic note.

In the wake of the death of Lynne Spalding, 57, in a stairwell at San Francisco General Hospital, the Chronicle points out that the hospital is putting new security measures in place, while a variety of investigations into Spalding’s death get underway.

Have you ridden the green wave? SF Weekly reports that since 2009, the lights on Valencia have been timed to let cyclists hit all greens while riding a steady 13 mph pace. Eleventh and 14th streets soon followed suit. The concept, which hails from the Netherlands, is getting enough positive feedback that four new green waves are headed to the city’s streets next year, including Folsom Street between 15th and 24th streets.
