It’s 7 am, partly cloudy, and 61°. The great weather continues this weekend, and is expected to reach a sunny 68° this afternoon. Details for the next ten days can be found here.
Interconnected: From Los Angeles to Frankfurt, protestors worldwide took to the streets yesterday in response to President Obama’s declaration that he will seek congressional authorization before launching a missile strike on Syria. While this news certainly isn’t local, its ramifications might be. For years, the Mission has been a destination for immigrants fleeing political violence and instability in their home countries. In this post, Mission Local’s Lydia Chávez explores the events in Syria in the context of our own community, and how all too frequently, the global becomes local.
Feeling Zine-y: The 12th annual San Francisco Zine Fest kicks off this afternoon at the San Francisco County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park. The event, which is free, will feature crafts, comics, a zine library, presentations by special guests, zine workshops, and more. It’s the perfect way to satiate your literary cravings until this year’s Lit-Quake. For more information about the event, click here.
Celebrate the last night of the long weekend with a soul shakedown party at Dub Mission’s 17th anniversary! Stop by the Elbo Room at 647 Valencia tonight for an evening of “riddims and laughter.”
