Today at noon the “Close the Gap” coalition of San Francisco will hold a rally with local teachers and families to urge the City College of San Francisco board of trustees to “to pass a responsible budget that preserves essential services and maintains quality for the 33,00 students who attend the college.” The event is also meant to show support for the 54 schools that face possible closure in Chicago.
A 28-year-old man fell three stories from a roof at a Bay to Breakers party near Fell and Cole Streets on Sunday, police said. The man was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died of injuries related to the incident. Police also took sixteen other people to sobering centers and arrested 20 people during the event. Look here for photos of the day’s festivities.
Bay City News reports that as of April, San Francisco was at a five-year low of unemployment. The rate dropped to 5.4% from 6.3% in February. The state’s rate has also decreased over the past year.
