California could soon have the toughest gun laws in the nation. Democratic lawmakers, who control the state legislature, announced 10 proposals for restricting firearm owners.

Thousands of low-income youth in San Francisco will soon be riding Muni for free. The 16-month test program will give free Muni passes to students under 18. It doesn’t start until March 1, but 18,000 students have already applied.

And SPCA employees Laura Gretch and Daniel Quagliozzi (or “Daniel the Cat Whisperer,” as we like to call him at Mission Local) are letting strangers design their next tattoos in the name of saving homeless pets. Whoever donates the most money to help homeless cats and dogs will have the honor of picking out their next tattoos.
