The Chronicle reports that the city may soon prohibit smoking at public events held on city property. The proposed measure is backed by Supervisor Eric Mar and will be up for a vote next year.

In other smoke-related news, SF Appeal reports that a Board of Supervisors committee approved legislation that would require landlords to designate smoking and non-smoking apartments in multi-unit apartment buildings. The ordinance must be approved by the entire board before it takes effect.

In case you missed it last night, a man was shot last night at 15th and Natoma streets. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was being evaluated. The motive for the shooting is not known, police said.
