The Supreme Court is set to review California’s Proposition 8 and the federal Defense of Marriage Act. Since 2008, when Prop. 8 was passed by voters, two lower courts have struck down the ban as unconstitutional. Same-sex marriage in California has been on hold until the issue is resolved. The state of Washington legalized same-sex marriage on Thursday, Dec. 6.

Good news for Giants fans: the entire starting lineup from the 2012 World Series championship team will be returning for the 2013 season. Angel Pagan and Marco Scutaro, who recently signed contracts, are excited to be back.

The Chronicle reports that the San Francisco Planning Commission has approved a development plan in the Western South of Market neighborhood. The plan, which must still be approved by the Board of Supervisors, means that housing will be added just north of Harrison Street.
