According to the New York Times, San Francisco technology companies are celebrating the passage of Proposition E, the gross receipts tax. The measure, approved by a wide margin last week, is expected to save the local industry millions. Under the new rules, startups will not be taxed based on the employees they hire but will pay more when they start generating actual revenue.
