A 29-year-old man was robbed at Mission and 19th streets at 11:45 p.m. on Monday.

The victim was on Mission Street when a 30-year-old woman approached him and asked for a cigarette, according to police. As he looked for one, a second suspect, described as a man of an unknown age, came up behind the victim and kicked him in the leg, causing him to fall to one knee.

The male suspect then took the victim’s cell phone and both suspects fled eastbound on 19th Street, police said.

The victim complained of pain in his leg and was taken to the hospital.

  1. Just be sure you are not a mark. Do not walk around with a smart phone out and if you have to use one stop and look around and determine if you feel safe. I stand in doorways so I can see anyone approaching.
Important thing is not to look like a mark.
Most women already know to be precautious anywhere.

  2. I don’t think that crime has skyrocketed. Divide the number of crimes into the numbers of residents and visitors and one’s chances of being a victim of a crime is non existent.

      1. better idea – maybe the police can do something about it.

There is NO excuse for SF to be as gritty, violent, and crime ridden as it when every other major American city has managed to substantially reduce crime over the past 20 years.
