Dianda’s Italian American Pastry celebrated 50 years in business with free cream puffs and a birthday cake on Saturday. Dozens of community members stopped by for the celebration — some of whom have been loyal patrons for years and some of whom happened to pass by the event on their way elsewhere. “Happy birthday!” said many. “Thank you for the calories!” said others.

Dianda’s employees said they started baking the cream puffs around midnight and made close to 3,000 for the celebration.

Victoria and her sister Joan — who is married to Floyd Goldberg, one of the owners — handed out cake and cream puffs throughout the day.

Some couldn’t wait for the cake to be served.

Dianda’s was given an award by Supervisor David Campos, for being a staple of the community. Pasquale Dianda (left), a former owner and the son of the man who opened Dianda’s, was there to accept it.

The crowd was full of family members, longtime friends and community members.

“You have a white mustache!” these little girls said to one another after eating cream puffs.

Hugs and kisses took over the celebration.

Even Roxy the dog enjoyed Dianda’s cake.

A parking enforcement officer and friend of the bakery took a break from work to join the celebration.

People from throughout the neighborhood and city enjoyed the occasion. “I feel terrific,” said Floyd Goldberg, one of the owners.

  1. I was builder for two Dianda sons with 2 lots in Pine Mountain Lake in Groveland, Ca. New them well and met at their homes once or twice and San Francisco bakery also. Nice memories as I am 87 now with over 50 yrs as a builder with about 15 yrs there. Our real estate and construction known as Mountain Leisure Enterprise, Inc. continues there now owned by John Stone. It appears the bakery in S.F. is not owned or run by the Diandas. But have pleasant memories of many of our clients, many from the Bay Area. Larry Ward, Modesto, Ca.

  2. There are 3 brothers, Armando is the oldest then there is Pasquale, and the baby is Floriano. Lets give all three brothers credit for the 50 years of baking.

  3. The photo captioned “Dianda’s was given an award by Supervisor David Campos, for being a staple of the community. Pasquale Dianda (left), a former owner and the son of the man who opened Dianda’s, was there to accept it.” is technically correct, I guess since they were given a certificate on Campos’ behalf – but that’s not it. That’s the certificate that was given by George Gascon. Also, the man in the yellow sportscoat is Narsai David, who just came by to congratulate them.
