“Through That Which is Seen” represents a range of interpretations of the diorama on all scales, from site-specific installations to small-scale models. From natural history displays to shoebox book reports, the word diorama often conjures memories from childhood. However, dioramas can be found dotted throughout our daily lives. Think about storefront displays, televisions and medicine cabinets, to name a few. Does a shower become a performative diorama when in use? Or a car? The work in this exhibition highlights the narrative potential of the diorama and the many forms in which they embody.
