San Francisco public schools got a mixed report card. The SF Examiner reports:

In the San Francisco Unified School District, 74 percent of elementary schools, 69 percent of middle schools and 72 percent of high schools improved or maintained their rankings.

Forty-three percent of SFUSD schools were labeled above average, with rankings of 7 or higher. Another 43 percent were below average, with rankings between 1 and 4. There were 20 schools with a 1, the lowest ranking.

Most of these were schools in the Superintendent’s Zones, designated areas in the Mission and the Bayview which have received extra money and attention as part of a school improvement program.

Mission Local’s Marta Franco contributed to a TIME magazine video on living in the United States as an undocumented immigrant.
