As transportation officials gather this afternoon to consider a proposal to extend metered parking hours to Sundays, it’s worth remembering our reporting on the issue from early 2010, when then-Mayor Gavin Newsom wanted to institute paid Sunday parking.
At the time, Newsom said businesses had been polled and were in favor of the idea. But when Mission Loc@l asked 131 businesses along the routes where metered Sunday parking was being proposed, few were happy about it.
