It’s 7 a.m., 61°, and headed to 73°. But don’t get too used to this heat. The temps should drop a bit after today, and forecasters are calling for rain Wednesday. Details for the next 10 days are here.

It’s Earth Day today! In its 42nd year, the theme this year is “Mobilize the earth.”

If you’re feeling like mobilizing, there’s an Earth Day gathering in Dolores Park this morning for people who want to volunteer. If you can’t make it in the morning, there’s a picnic with some local vendors for lunch. More details about the event put on by Dolores Park Works here.

If you want to move beyond the Mission, there’s a big, free, all-day celebration at Civic Center Plaza. The Earth Day event features dancing, bands, permaculture workshops, sustainable chefs showing off and an eco kids zone, where young ones can have fun. For a detailed scheduled of events, check out the website.

In honor of loving the earth, the Chronicle dug up some fun old bicycle photos from the archives. Check it out and see if there are places you can still recognize.
