First it was Twitter, now it’s Google gobbling up a Mission startup.

From All Things D:

Google today confirmed the news we brought you yesterday: Kevin Rose and some of the team from his mobile app incubator Milk will be joining the company.

Those joining the company are Rose, noted designer Daniel Burka, biz dev guy Chris Hutchins and designer Joshua Lane. We’d reported yesterday that each of the employees will be receiving on the order of $1 million to $2 million, and investors are getting their money back, plus a little extra.

Chris O’Brien of the Mercury News thinks that Google’s acquisition of a startup that “accomplished nothing” sends the wrong message to Silicon Valley:

Bankroll a group of talented techies who are unemployed. Shop them to big players like Facebook, Google, Yahoo. Make a quick buck for doing pretty close to nothing. Seems like the kind of small thinking that shouldn’t be rewarded or encouraged.
