Jose Ramos told Mission Local that the coffee shop he’s operating in the former Summit space, Cafe 780, is having its soft opening today. It will likely be a temporary setup until a high-paying commercial renter can move in (there were rumors that it would be an outlet of the La Boulange chain, but the owner denies it). Read the most recent news, that the space is being advertised for $30,000/month!

The 20th Noise Pop Festival is well underway, and Mission venues like the Roxie, Bender’s Bar and Public Works have ongoing events today and tomorrow.

The LA Times announced it will join news organizations like the NY Times and the Wall Street Journal in charging readers for online content. (The LA Times version is technically a membership program, not a paywall.) We won’t do that to you at Mission Local, but it does take money to report news. If you’re feeling like throwing us some support, donate here (or buy an ML tote bag)!
