It’s Thursday. You know, the day you always wish is Friday, to get a jump start on your weekend. It’s not quite Friday yet, Missionites, but it is 7 a.m., 46° and headed to 65°. You can find details for the next 10 days here.
Have you found San Francisco to be more safe lately? SF Gate reports that the city has closed out 2011 with an all-time low homicide rate, making this the third year in a row that the city has seen record lows. Excerpt:
The city experienced a spike in killings from 2004 to 2008, with an average of 93 a year. But the past three years have ended with homicide counts on a level last seen in the 1960s: 45 victims in 2009, 48 in 2010 and 50 last year.
San Francisco also saw a 6 percent drop in total violent crime last year — homicides, assaults, robberies and rapes.
The Chronicle reports that Nancy Pelosi intervened in the case of Brad Wells and Anthony John Makk, a married San Francisco couple who have been together 19 years and who faced Makk’s deportation back to his native Australia when he was denied a green card. See how here.
