Phone thieves took Friday and Saturday nights off in the Mission, but were back at it again on Sunday. At 6:58 p.m. on Jan. 8, a man, estimated to be about 19 years old, approached another man, 28, on 21st Street near Mission. The suspect greeted the victim by punching him several times in the face and running off with his phone, according to police.
Many hours later, at 12:55 a.m., a man, 43, was sitting on a bench near 24th and Mission streets when an 18-year-old male approached and spoke to him. The suspect then shot the victim in the face with a BB gun and fled, police said. The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
At 2:04 a.m. on Monday, a 37-year-old woman ended an argument with a man, 55, by stabbing him in the left forearm, police said. The altercation happened on the 500 block of South Van Ness. The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment.

There is a police station in the Mission, yet I’ve been living here almost seven years and I can hardly think of an occasion I’ve seen police patrolling the Mission on foot. How can there continue to be crime after crime in the same small area and no police patrols?
