If you’re planning on eating at a restaurant on Valencia Street between 16th and 17th, be sure to check that it’s open. A power outage that happened Tuesday night, as InsideScoop reported, is causing many restaurants to close tonight even though their lights are back on.

Some 141 customers were affected by the power outage, PG&E spokesperson Joe Molica said, but by 3:45 p.m. today power was restored to all customers. That was already too late for many restaurants to prepare for dinner service, so many, including Bar Tartine, are closed tonight.

“We weren’t able to do any dishes after service, said Vinny Eng, a Bar Tartine employee. “That’s one of the reasons we can’t open, because we have to clean up.”

Eng said employees also have to go through refrigerators to see what needs to be thrown out.

That means lost revenue for businesses, but Eng didn’t seem worried about that.

“Revenue is revenue; we’ll find other ways to make up for it,” she said. “What we’re more concerned about is lost wages for our staff — that’s our biggest concern.” Some 15 to 20 employees couldn’t work today, Eng said.

PG&E crews are still investigating the cause of the power outage and are working on final repairs, Molica said.
