A 26-year-old man was shot and killed early Friday morning near the corner of 23rd and Harrison streets after arguing with four men, police said.
At around 1:50 a.m., the shooter fired four shots, hitting the suspect in the back, police said. Media reports say the suspects, at least one of whom was between 16 and 18 years old, fled north on Harrison Street in a green Subaru Outback.
After being shot, the victim collapsed on the corner of 23rd and Alabama streets, witnesses told Mission Loc@l. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two people familiar with the incident said the shooting was gang-related and that the victim lived nearby on Florida Street.
There are four outstanding suspects, and detectives were on the scene on Friday morning.
This is the fifth homicide in the Mission this year. The last occurred on Sept. 5, when Dwayne Spruell was shot and killed.

I’ve been a big fan of this site, but I’m upset by this coverage. I was interviewed by someone working for Mission Local this morning re this tragedy. I saw as much as could possibly be seen as it all happened directly below me. None of what I said was used in this article – instead you glommed onto the GANG RELATED quote. How sad.
I moved away from the mission many years ago however I still get phone calls when things like this happen. I think it’s so sad that a mother is morning the loss of her child no matter how old he was she lost her son and for what? He paid the ultimate price for a color. So sad and to think that our men and women are fighting a never ending war in another country, and our own people are doing the same thing here In our country.
This mother is grieving remember her in your prayer’s be kind when you print and remember these words: “Compassion,Love,Support,Sympathy,Empathy.” I am so sorry for your loss my thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of need. GOD BLESS YOU TONI…
Mission Neighbor: Thank you for your comments. I will be discussing this with the reporters. Best, Lydia
Thanks Lydia, hopefully there will be a follow up if there is more information.
