SoundCloud, a Berlin-based audio sharing website, opened its first U.S. Office in the Mission Today.

According to the Chronicle, SoundCloud’s new 2,850 square feet digs are at 510 Treat Ave., near 18th Street. The company will start out with six employees and will hire more in the coming year.

The company’s Chief Technical Officer on why they opened an office in the Mission:

“It’s definitely about being in the tech hub of the U.S., and feeling that it’s a very inspiring place to be,” said Eric Wahlforss, the chief technical officer. “I think New York is an exciting place, but San Francisco is more meaty for us. There’s more substance, and more interesting potential partnerships.”
