its the CITY, most city cops dont care about jaywalking, ive seen it too many times, yet this black man gets stopped…seems a little fishy
i was there that day. as usual, our City’s finest were hard at work on this guy jaywalking when ALL AROUND US, there were at least 20 drug deals, some hoes, other usual nefarious shit, but they don’t want to do the paperwork for that, so they roust this guy for jaywalking because he dared to be black and talk back to the rookie trainee. THAT’S what happened. Shades of the ’60’s. the black man dared to speak his mind to the cop and boom, down he goes for a 40 minute lecture and roust so the trainee could get the benefit of how to “deal with the public”. god bless em.

Hang on the baton, just in case he decides to jump us both….for giving him a civil infraction.
And cops wonder why people hate them.
Only some people hate cops, MOST people appreciate everything they do to keep us safe. This gentleman may have just been jaywalking, or, he could have been a public nuisance and risking harm to himself or others by walking across the road when he shouldn’t have, what would have happened if he’d been hit by a car?. The reporting doesn’t tell us anything.
A European friend just got busted for jaywalking on Valencia & Duboce. She said the cops who busted her seemed totally hopped up on something. Big surprise…
If you are black or Latino.
Hey is that Palo Alto or San Francisco? I thought PA had a long standing policy that people of color were not allowed to jaywalk.
And people wonder why people of African descent are leaving SF…
…about as often as observable-from-Earth supernovae occur in the nearby galaxies. I did once hear of someone I knew getting a ticket for jaywalking; it was back in the mid-1980s.
