A celebration of the life of Eric Quezada, the longtime community organizer who died last week, will be held on Sunday, September 25, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Horace Mann Middle School, his family has announced.
The Mission Asset Fund, a nonprofit that provides financial services for low-income residents, is fundraising to help put Quezada’s 3-year-old daughter through school.
Jose Quiñonez, the Asset Fund’s executive director, writes:
The outpouring of grief across San Francisco is a testament of how many people were touched by Eric throughout his time on earth. The Mission feels a bit empty without him now.
I am lucky to have known Eric and to call him mi hermano en la lucha for many years. It pains me to think that Eric’s 3-year old daughter Ixchel Quezada will not have the same opportunity.
He gave so much to us. Now it’s our turn to give something back. We’ve set up an education fund for Ixchel to help support her future. Please join me in honoring Eric’s life by making a contribution to the Ixchel Quezada Educational Fund.
Contribute what you can. Lorena Melgarejo (Ixchel’s mother, Eric’s wife and our good friend) will receive this communal gift to support Ixchel’s future.
