It’s 7 a.m., 54° and partly sunny, projected high of 73°. Details are here.

The San Francisco 49ers lost at home last night, but the San Francisco Police Department is boasting a bit of its own victory: a peaceful game. SFPD had a larger team of officers (40 percent more staff than a normal game, they said) in and around the stadium, tallying up their own statistics:

Ejections: 12
Public intoxication: 2
Warrant arrest: 1
Selling without a permit: 1 citation
Medical calls: 6
Hospital runs: 0

Speaking of numbers, new data indicates that of all places, Provincetown, Mass. is the gayest place in the world. SF Gate reports that the 2010 census counts may not tell the whole story, since it only asks about same-sex relationships, not orientation.

Today might be full of hustle and bustle as Burning Man attendees do some last-minute thrift shopping before a mass exodus to the desert — at least that’s what it was like last year. Better hit the bargain rack, though; the New York Times notes that for the first time ever, Burning Man tickets are sold out. Tickets on eBay could run you $600 or more.
