Since being diagnosed with cancer in 2004, Quezada, the executive director of Dolores Street Community Services, has run for supervisor of District 9, organized on behalf of the DREAM Act and fathered a daughter, now three.

Yesterday was both a birthday party for his daughter and a going-away party for Quezada. He leaves for Germany tomorrow, for an experimental cancer treatment. Until last fall, his cancer was able to be treated through surgery; since then, he’s participated in a few clinical trials and moved on to alternative treatments.

This treatment isn’t covered by his insurance provider, Kaiser, so donations are being gathered. The PayPal link to donate for Quezada’s treatment is here.

And a little more information here.

  1. Eric’s an amazing friend, mentor, and community leader.
We’re all praying for him, hoping this treatment goes well.
The Mission is so much better for him – he’s always been there when the community has needed his help.
