Shame on the building owners for leaving perfectly good housing vacant! While I have mixed feelings about squatting, absentee building owners should be held accountable, and be fined or subject to eminent domain. Bottom line, the building should be put to better use.
I think the squatters are just taking advantage of the situation. I’d actaully rather have a squatters collective in the building than a poorly run SRO occupied by crackheads and thieves.
We are all victims of San Francisco’s failed SRO policies.
