It’s 6:14 a.m., 51° and heading for 62°. Like yesterday, more or less, but a bit sunnier. Details are here.

It’s Sunday! That means, if you’re very lucky, it’s-lie-around-and-drink-coffee-and-read-the-newspaper-all-morning day. Or, if you’re one of those people who doesn’t read the newspaper anymore, it’s drink-coffee-and-read-whatever-it-is-you-read-now day.

In the news-you-already-know department: 3.3 magnitude earthquake in Berkeley. How’s that earthquake kit coming along?

What else is going on? The bad news: The problem of sudden oak death is still bigger than any of its solutions, Adult Day Health Care funding is slashed but may not save the state much money, and the last four years of the war against drugs have been really, really bad for Mexico.

Your good news: Carmageddon was quite possibly “the biggest non-event since Y2K.” Los Angelenos proved they can live without cars, at least for a little while, and a team of cyclists won a race with a JetBlue airbus. Parklets are creeping from the Mission (they certainly didn’t start here, but we’ve taken to them like no other neighborhood has) into downtown.

Also, here’s some proper Sunday reading: Mark Twain’s advice to little girls. Which is actually good advice for anyone.
