You know the one. Right at the intersection of 19th and Church. It’s right up at that sweet spot, overlooking the entire park, and when the J-Church goes by at night, it looks like a magic lantern ghost train. At any given moment it’s occupied by teenagers, hobos, couples making out, hippies, dapper old men, ladies in comfortable pants and clogs, and what appears to be nearly a full spectrum of Mission residents.

Nice work, Jon Cook, for being the man behind the bench that has punctuated so many of my walks up and down Church Street, for nearly a decade now. That is all.
