In a recent Slate magazine article, we read that only 25 percent of teenagers have summer jobs this year — a surprisingly low number. But given the bad economy, it’s easy to see how it would be difficult for someone with little or no work experience to get a call back from employers, even a fast-food restaurant or supermarket.

In this week’s edition of 60 seconds, we asked people what their first summer job was and what they thought about the fact that so few teens are working this summer.

Our first summer jobs? Claudia and Helene didn’t work as teenagers, apart from the occasional babysitting, because that’s just the way it is in Colombia and France. Heather’s first summer job was at a pizza parlor, and she says she hated it. What was yours?
