A 75-year-old man was found dead Thursday afternoon inside his apartment near Folsom and 25th streets. Police found the body at 4:50 p.m. and immediately launched an investigation, with several officers on the scene.
Police tape went up and patrols cars gathered near the apartment for several hours as they investigated. A press release identified the deceased as a victim and said that police found the circumstances suspicious.
No suspects have been identified as of today, but Mission Loc@l is working on updates.
There has only been one homicide in the Mission so far this year — a fatal shooting in late February at 17th and Mission streets that was gang-related.
In related news, Douglas Cabrera, 34, a suspect in the 1995 murders of Vincent Betancourt and Ruben Solis in Garfield Park, turned himself in to police on May 6. He is being charged with two counts of murder and is being held at San Francisco County Jail, according to police.
