The San Francisco Planning Commission will discuss two building projects in the Mission at today’s 1:30 p.m. meeting.
One is for construction of a multi-family four-unit building at 353 San Jose Avenue, between 25th and 26th streets. The new building was approved in March after the commission directed the project’s sponsor to alter the design in several ways, including reducing it to three stories from the four originally proposed.
But because of a clerical error, the commission has not had the opportunity to vote on the demolition of the two-story building that now stands at that address.
Although the structure is more than 50 years old, an evaluation concluded that it is neither a historic resource nor a landmark.
Planner Diego Sanchez said there is no new opposition to the project.
Sanchez added that the Planning Department has as yet heard no opposition to a 40-foot, 12-unit building proposed for a lot at the corner of 16th and Bryant streets that is now used for parking.
The project, which will also be discussed at today’s meeting, includes a ground-floor garage for off-street vehicle and bicycle parking.
