Mission District and Noe Valley teachers and friends will come together tonight at El Rio bar to help local middle school teacher Ann Strong after the recent tragic shooting of her 31-year-old son. Organizers of the event are hoping the money they raise will kick off a fund to enable Ms. Strong’s two grandchildren, now aged 7 and 11, to fulfill their dad’s wish that they become college graduates.
Ms. Strong is a special education teacher at Everett Middle School and previously worked at James Lick Middle School. Her current and former colleagues organized the event after Ms. Strong’s son was shot and killed a few weeks ago near his home in Berkeley.
