A 69-year-old homeless man was assaulted Wednesday night on 19th and Mission, according to police.

Around 11:15 p.m. the man saw two suspects going through his shopping cart.

When he asked them to leave his cart alone, one of the suspects took a bottle from the cart and used it to strike the man in the face. The victim fell to the ground and was kicked several times in the torso.

Officers arrested the two suspects near by. José Hernandez, a 22-year-old San Francisco resident, was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of conspiracy. A 38-year-old man was robbed on the corner of 24th and Florida around 1 a.m. this morning.

The victim was approached by three suspects, described as three males between the ages of 15 and 17. They demanded his money. When he refused, the suspects began punching him. One suspect managed to remove the man’s cell phone from his pocket.

All three suspects fled on foot and no arrests have been made.
