Burritos just happen to be a favorite food item among Mission Loc@l reporters and staff – they’re fast, portable, and packed to the punch. So here’s what some of them have to say about their favorite burrito spot.

For Greg Thomas El Metate takes the cake, hands down. He says the “the sour cream is legit, everything inside the burrito is in correct proportion, and they’re very consistent.” And where else can you get a burrito for six bucks even? (He does admit their salsas are just “okay.”)

Andrea Valencia says it’s all about the the California Burrito served at Los Coyotes. I mean, french fries in a burrito, sweetness dude! The salsa bar also gets props for its salsa de mango and salsa de nopales.

Rigo Hernandez echos her sentiments and adds, “I think El Coyote is under-rated. They recently started stepping it up, before they weren’t good, but they’re willing to try new things.” (Could this be why Los Coyotes didn’t make it on the list?)

For Rachel Parker, El Papalote screams goodness, especially for a vegetarian. “I’m like dead after I eat a tofu mole burrito.” And that’s a good thing. Also good is El Metate she says because its veggie burrito is filled with real veggies: grilled carrots, broccoli, and cabbage.

Hunter Holcombe says that something about Cancun’s tortillas is off the hook. What about that burrito-like quesadilla they serve? Chewy!

J.J. Barrow prefers El Tepa. She says it’s “quick, inexpensive, with yummy veggie options. Just the way I like it. And they don’t roll the tin foil into the burrito — a chronic problem at other places.”

So what’s your favorite burrito joint?
