A man was assaulted outside of a Mission Street business near 16th Street at around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, according to police.

The victim, a 55-year-old man, had just made a purchase using a $100 bill. After the victim collected his change and left the store, he was assaulted from behind, police reported.

The suspect punched and kicked the victim, causing facial lacerations and knocking out a couple of his teeth. The suspect then took the victim’s money and fled.

The victim returned home and was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

In a second robbery, a suspect entered a popular liquor store at 16th and Valencia at 9:30 p.m., stole some food items, then fled on foot.

The victim chased after the man and a fight ensued, during which the suspect punched the victim, stole his glasses and fled.

Officers took the suspect into custody.

A 59-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint shortly before 4 a.m. Friday while walking on 16th near Guerrero, according to police. The suspect drove up to the man, got out of his vehicle, robbed the him of his cash and fled.

The victim described the vehicle as a two-door white Toyota Celica. No arrests have been made.
