The all-volunteer theater troupe We Players has been putting on plays (mostly Shakespeare) in unconventional locations (mostly public park lands) for years now. This performance of Hamlet, acted out in various locations all over the grounds and cellblocks of Alcatraz, was striking — fun, playful, beautifully costumed and acted. It even had a chain gang.

We Players has made huge strides since its well-intentioned but grueling Macbeth staged in 2008 in the Presidio. Unfortunately, in getting better, the troupe has produced a show so popular it has already sold out.

How do we get them to perform in the Mission? Who knows what kind of awesomeness they could produce if they were given full run of the Armory? Or (better yet) the old Wonder Bread factory?
