Good morning WEEKEND!

When I think of a lazy weekend breakfast in the Mission, I think Tartine. But how about Bar Tartine? Starting soon, the new restaurant will start competing with its sister store, dishing up slow-cooked eggs, organic yogurt, and of course, baked goods.

Want to eat out, but short on cash? You could always be like this Mountain View man, and start printing money in the back of your Ford Aerostar Van.

Not into printing presses? Some Mission locals have turned to growing marijuana to make a buck. Green Thumbs beware, Police Chief George Gascón is looking to community members for tips, and has already made 45 drug busts throughout the city. Mission Loc@l’s Bryan Gibel has more.

But then, maybe your looking or a more honest way to eat out—like a job.

Well, good luck.

New York Times reports that the “economy shed 263,000 jobs in September,” 62,000 more than August, and that “unemployment rates edged up to 9.8 percent from 9.7″ during that same time. Already the recession has claimed 7.2 million jobs. Ouch!

That’s bad news for all of us, but a jobless economy could hit same-sex couples even harder.

Although this is disheartening news to same-sex partners, yesterday offered a glimmer of hope: Under a federal mandate, supporters of Prop 8 will be required to turn over their campaign paperwork. If evidence of prejudice is present, the controversial proposition might be out the door.

Looking for a way to celebrate?

Why not get outside and check out some of this weekend’s main attractions. Don’t let Hardly, Strictly Bluegrass steal the stage. This weekend is packed with everything from today’s Taste of Filmore Fair,  to Sunday’s Excelsior Festival, and art shows ranging from Tim Kerr to Michael Sieben.

See you there.
